Sacred Grounds Café at Central Café Grand Opening

Sacred Grounds Café at Central Café, a collaboration between St. Patrick Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, and the St. Louis Public Library hosts grand opening event on December 20, 2023

 

 

St. Louis, MO – St. Patrick Center has expanded their workforce development program to the Central Café at Central Library in downtown St. Louis. Library customers and coffee lovers can now enjoy handcrafted drinks made by St. Patrick Center clients enrolled in the barista training program. Barista training is a St. Patrick Center workforce development program teaching clients new skills and on-the-job training in a coffee shop setting.

 

“Through our partnership with the St. Louis Public Library and the dedicated team at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis ministry, St. Patrick Center, we are thrilled to unveil Sacred Grounds Café – a space where community, culture, and compassion converge,” said Jared Bryson, President, and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

 

"We are very excited to bring Central Café back to service as an amenity for customers of Central Library. St. Patrick Center brings extensive experience to the café and a model that directly supports people in our community that need it most," said Waller McGuire, CEO of the St. Louis Public Library.

 

Join us on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 8:00am-9:00am for the Sacred Grounds Café grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at Central Library (1301 Olive Street St. Louis, MO 63101). Interviews with leaders from St. Patrick Center, Catholic Charities of St. Louis and the St. Louis Public Library before event start time can be arranged.

 

Built as part of St. Louis Public Library's 2012 restoration and modernization of Central Library, the café is located on the first floor and was a gift of the Orthwein Foundation.
